aptX Bluetooth A2DP codecs for better quality There are various codecs that give improved audio quality with the A2DP Bluetooth audio profile. In particular most Snapdragon processors (by Qualcomm, used in most Xiaomi phones) support original aptX and improved versions aptX HD, aptx LL, and aptX...

It might need temporary working space as well as the space used for the final backup.

Just in case anyone hasn't noticed: the "tool" to open the SIM drawer is essentially a bent paperclip; I always use an actual paperclip rather than finding the "tool", both with Xiaomi and other phones with a SIM drawer.

(This was in response to my post regarding problems installing Magisk 22.) While I'm not totally certain - I must have done something if I had trouble where others didn't - I don't think I ever hid Magisk; I don't use payment or banking applications that object to root.

Problems with Magisk 22 (recent RN7 ROMs) I haven't read all the posts, so may be repeating known information; I read a few pages yesterday and didn't find the answer to a problem I was having. I am using a rooted Redmi Note 7/lavender, with OrangeFox recovery and Magisk root. Until Magisk...

    MIUI 12.5 21.2.3/4

Re slow WiFi and connection speed: Does the 2.4GHz network use the same SSID as the 5GHz one? I'd suggest that's a bad idea; if the 2.4GHz signal is stronger, it may connect. I use different SSIDs (I just append "5" for 5GHz), then set the phone not to connect automatically to the slower one...

    MIUI 12.5 21.2.3/4

While it may be a problem, are you sure you're connecting to a fast network? I sometimes find slow WiFi because the phone (not Mi 10] has connected to my 2.4GHz 802.11n instead of 5GHz 802.11ac. It happened often enough that I had it forget the slower network. HTH

Some charging problems have been reported, and it's been suggested that it could be a faulty charger rather than an issue with a firmware version. Re problems with charging (via cable) due to hardware: a very useful helper is a cheap USB meter; it will show instantaneous voltage and current...

    MIUI 12.5 21.1.27/28

Just in case it's relevant: I've updated to Magisk 21.4 on an RN7 with OrangeFox (OF) recovery with no problems; I don't remember whether via Magisk Manager or ZIP, probably Manager. But on a quite different Android phone (LG G5 H850 Stock Oreo) when I updated Magisk from 21.2 to 21.4 by the...

Notifications were delayed starting a few weeks ago, now seem OK (RN7) A comment on what I think is a problem introduced a few weekly updates ago, which now seems to be fixed: I use various time notifications on a Redmi Note 7 (lavender), e.g. Google Keep, and a calendar application (not...

Not to do with xiaomi.eu, but it's been said that lithium batteries last about twice as long in mAh delivered (lifespan, not charge endurance) if not charged beyond 80%. This seems a reasonable assumption (I don't know if there have been good tests). There's an app called Battery Charge Limit for...

    MIUI 12.3 20.12.9/10

Notifications don't sound if Developer option "Skip screen lock" is set (RN7, x.eu 20.12.9) A problem I found on the Redmi Note 7 running xiaomi.eu 20.12.9: Using the phone without security, I selected the Developer option "Skip screen lock" so that I don't need to swipe up on switching the...

New Notifications do not appear on time

I've just noticed that Google Keep and Missed Notifications Reminder don't make a notification sound any more; they did in the past. I expect this is true of most applications, I haven't checked. The applicaions are set to start automatically, not to save battery, and all notification options...

    MIUI 12.3 20.11.25

I see that this has been answered already. What I don't understand : "do not educate others that type c is slow". Why? Are people not supposed to know that devices with USB C connectors sometimes only support the USB 2.0 standard (theoretical maximum 480Mbps)? It might affect the marketing hype...

    MIUI 12.3 20.11.25

Something that's often confusing is that USB C is a connector; USB 1, 2.0, and 3.x are standards. It's usual, but not manadatory, for a USB C connector to use a 3.x standard. But there's nothing exceptional about a C connector being used with the slower 2.0 data standard, which is what happens...

    MIUI 12.2 20.10.15/16

I've seen several comments like this: I don't remember exactly what I did, but have got the Health app working. I wouldn't normally post about something I'm so uncertain about, but it seems several people are having a problem, so here goes. Approximately what I did a few months ago (RN7...

    MIUI 12.1 20.9.3/4

Following up my own message: I've searched more deeply for the many references to "WCDMA" and have found a very relevant post from somebody who knows what they are saying. I quote without comment, beyond saying that I don't have the required knowledge for anything deep...

    MIUI 12.1 20.9.3/4

In response to my post on thge phone always reverting to lte/td-scdma/UMTS instead of the desired lte/wcdma: Yes; I've edited my original post to add that it reverts to lte/td-scdma/UMTS after reboot, too. Not an actual problem for me, in a 4G zone, and easy to remedy when you realise it has...

Wrong network preferred type, defaults to Chinese LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS (Redmi Note 7 certainly; probably others): A comment about mobile network selection. This has already been said, and by someone more knowledgeable than me, but it remains a potential issue with a ROM derived from the Chinese...

    MIUI 12.1 20.8.20

I assume you have root access, and that you have one working device, and want to copy its setup to another, so you are able to make backups to do this. If you have a NANDroid backup, you can restore from it to the same device using the custom recovery you made it with (TWRP or OrangeFox). But...
