Can those types of things be incorporated into future miui releases , even if the android base doesn't change ?

If you use a phone with miui , is it even possible to tell what version of Android it runs on ? Genuine question.

As I implied I don't really know what I am doing...wipe/don't wipe , twrp/no twrp - I end up doing nothing because I don't want to do the wrong thing !

Cheers for that - I used twrp as it says to do so on the roms download page , and plenty of people seem to insist it is the best method - but if I don't need to , I won't ! : )

Sorry to interrupt , is it necessary to use twrp everytime I update , or is the one install good for all future updates?

Husky , yes same as you . Just out of curiosity ,have you altered your tools folder? For example ,no updater icon , Authenticator appears on home page , not in tools folder like yours , but file explorer is in my tools , but not yours . Stefano , thanks I will try that , I didn't do any wipes...

Interesting. I am using 6.6.23 , are you ? I'm not too bothered about the radio as such , it just makes me wonder what else might be different that I won't notice till I want it ! I find it strange how different experiences seem to be for different people using the same device and rom.

Well you say it's advice , but these forums are littered with such comments that to me seem to be used as ' put-downs ' , in much the same way that the comments are on page 1 about OTA , where people who wait for OTA are described as 'lazy' .

Yes , I can read , thank you very much , maybe you should try it too - my post was a reply to BlecKent , who asserted OTA occurs once a month . I was demonstrating that this is not the case . And I also pointed out that I have tried manually with no success... jeez , smartarses around here.

Last OTA I received was 6.5.5 , RN2 -well over a month . Nothing since then in updater , and when I try to manually download I get a message telling me I can't because javascript is not enabled in the browser . Two things , a) it's the stock browser that Xiaomi has installed and b) javascript IS...

If you look on YouTube there are some tutorials on imei recovery , doesn't look too difficult.

That's like when xiaomi didn't bother with nfc in RN2 , they said it wasn't worth it - got rid of mi remote because there is nothing worth watching on tv !
