Is The Mi5s A Wise Buy?

My experience with OnePlus is terrible. At least Xiaomi release an OS that generally works. OnePlus has poor software development with little care for releasing ROMs that are full of massive bugs. Not to mention their devices have very average battery life and an annoying button for do not...

Is The Mi5s A Wise Buy?

I also went from the LG G3 to the Mi5s and wasn't expecting it to be this much better. The screen is much brighter, battery life is much better (80 to 100% better) and camera is miles better as well. I'm on the xiaomi.eu stable 8.2.3 and it's fine, everything works flawlessly and i love the...

Update Procedure - Stable Xiaomieu Roms

It's not exactly the same. It initiates the openrecoveryscript in twrp so it runs an update of the existing ROM. Flashing it manually just installs over the top of the existing ROM.

Update Procedure - Stable Xiaomieu Roms

The updater app is the cleaner way to do it. Updating in recovery directly is a dirty flash. Either of which will probably be fine. You can do a backup of your ROM in recovery first (assuming you have twrp) or use an app like Titanium backup

    Upgrade From 8.0 To 82

I think that's a question for the xiaomi forums not the xiaomi.eu forums

    Upgrade From 8.0 To 82

As far as i know if you're moving from a xiaomi ROM to a xiaomi.eu ROM then you need to wipe (someone correct me if I'm wrong here!). If you really don't want to wipe or unlock your bootloader then best just stay with xiaomis own ROM where you are now.

    Upgrade From 8.0 To 82

If you're worried about security then you can choose to leave the system partition read only rather than read write. Twrp recovery usually asks you this question when you use it for the first time (after you've unlocked the bootloader and installed it). This will ensure that e.g. banking apps...

    Upgrade From 8.0 To 82

By stable do you mean Xiaomis own ROM? 8.04 never existed for the Mi5s. If your MIUI version says 8.04 then you have a vendor rom. Often when you have a vendor ROM, the bootloader has already been unlocked by the vendor. But to answer your question yes you can lock the bootloader again (not that...

Any Eta For Nougat 7.0 For Mi 5s Plus?

MIUI 8 does not take advantage yet though

Any Eta For Nougat 7.0 For Mi 5s Plus?

I assume Xiaomi are working on MIUI 9 for the Mi6 so once that's out then Mi5s will follow suit at some point not too long after (hopefully). Mi5 has Nougat but with MIUI 8 over it so it's the same. Marshmallow and Nougat is hardly different at all anyway so I don't understand what all the fuss...

    Upgrade From 8.0 To 82

Yes but i thought you need to unlock the bootloader for a xiaomi.eu ROM anyway

    Upgrade From 8.0 To 82

To upgrade from 8.0 to 8.2 stable, open the updater app and choose the option Choose Update Package. Select your downloaded 8.2 package and then the phone will reboot into your recovery and upgrade to 8.2
