Mmmh, I finally also succeeded only with an "unofficial" multi v5.0 from MIUI Germany which was pre-rooted (http://miui-germany.de/wp/?page_id=274#). This contains Chinese, English and German language only. Another try would be to check with TWRP recovery...

For installing a ROM you should boot into recovery and install zip.

As VRoot does not work with V5.0, try to root by flashing via recovery with zip file from here: http://en.miui.com/thread-13293-1-2.html MobileUncle link is in the first post, CWM you can also take from there or use TWRP (some posts before this one) and install with MobileUncle tools.

Yes, because the photos are stored on the SD card, not internally. I have only one more idea: Others were successful with TWRP recovery, check earlier in this thread.

These logs are fine, just I for information, no real errors. It looks that you have the phone connected via USB during this. I normally have my phone disconnected from PC during installation but I am not sure if this helps. Did you check the logs directly after trying to install?

Steps sound fine. After trying to install did you look at the log in CWM? There is an entry like Show log. Was the zip file valid? Try to open the zip to see if it is valid.

Did you try to load your battery for some time? Maybe due to frequent rebooting it had a deep discharge.
