There is more people complaining about how small the icons are now, compared to how big they were before. Hopefully in next release, the icons are back to normal. Right now in v2, they are smaller than official rom which is whats really unnecessary. Should not have been changed in the first place.

I installed twrp and wiped the phone then installed miui 11 xiaomi.eu. Before I installed anything, no backups etc, there is 2.5gb of 'other files' I have another phone with Chinese version of same rom, it only has 0.9gb of other files but has way more apps installed. Any ideas?

I don't see any problem with icons in previous version or your screenshots. They are already small enough, miui icons used to be much bigger. Btw, why do you want tiny icons? It just gives more empty space between them which can result in missing icon tap.

Minor bug but every time you open camera app on MIUI 11 Mi5 after reboot, it freezes after 1 second. Force close it and reopen, it seems to be fine, until next reboot.

I'd say you have the bug then. I've seen it on nearly all mi phones with MIUI 8 either in youtube videos or on the forum. I'd suggest using device only Location which is ironic since battery saver ain't saving battery! Or enable Location history if you don't mind Google knowing where you go.
