On en.miui.com downloads page, 8.1.4.0 is listed as latest China Stable: http://en.miui.com/download-303.html#447 However, they have not yet published the changelog on the forum, as they usually do. Perhaps they'll just do it on the following next hours.

No, if you're using TWRP and .eu weekly, then you are still unlocked. If, for whatever reason, your bootloader gets relocked, what worked for me was using the MiFlashUnlock tool with a unlock-approved MI account, as simple as that.

Just to be sure, can you get into fastboot mode (vol. down + power)? Can you check the status of your bootloader: fastboot oem device-info A couple people (myself included) experienced a bootloader relock after flashing the latest stable release for the Redmi 3S... That, also, causes a bootloop.

I just give a tap to the home button, and leave my finger on it to have it recognize my registered fingerprint. It unlocks my phone instantly, no need to wake the phone with the power button.

Latest TWRP version for our Mi 5 is 3.0.2-3 , which, besides correcting the EFS backup/restore bug, has other features over 3.0.2-0, like proper OTG support, etc. Has anyone flashed 3.0.2-3? Thanks @ener2k , could you finally fix your problem? I hope so. Also, I'd like to ask what would be the correct way to do a backup and restore of a phone using TWRP. As you can select which partitions wou want to include in the backup, I'm guessing you should leave the EFS partition well alone...

Another thing: your mileage may vary, but some users (myself included) have reported better battery life on 8.1.3.0, compared with 8.1.1.0.

It's more or less the same. It has newer Android security patches and some fixes, but if you're happy with 8.1.1.0, there isn't really any compelling reason to upgrade immediately.
