The only way to come out of it is then is going into settings over the control center and then the full screen...

I dont know what you have flashed in the past but the Peridot Rom didnt contain any custom recovery. I had a look some minutes ago and it has the original recovery in English.

I have "Circle to Search" enabled but when I touch the Full Screen Gesture bar, nothing happens.
