Okay, but how do i get TWRP to ask for pattern and not a password/pin? data partition still stays encrypted in recovery mode... EDIT: as far as I remember was exactly that the reason to change from pattern to pin.

Looks okay, but latest release for redmi note 8 Gingko was July, 28th - I doubt that this will solve this problem, which occurred right now.

Didn't consider that yet. Could actually be possible. Bigger concern though is the TWRP encryption problem, which also occurres to me. Restoring my TWRP backup, from last week is not really a good option. Maybe the right moment to install and stay on the stable version...

Can only tell that I was asked to input PIN for both SIMs and for login (fingerprint didn't work). So I think yes it was a reboot - ''uptime' is now about 20 hours which also would prove me right, as I didn't reboot the phone since last update.
