I never give attention to the boot image instead, I always check TWRP image and if it is different, then to flash to upgrade to the last TWRP 3.2.0-3..

It is suggested to flash with dev 6.11.10 as intermadiate before flashing to Nougat dev (6.12.29) from stable MM (8.1.7.0). Do it the same while coming back too.. I personally did this way and never had any trouble otherwise you may start to yell...

Probably it is some of Mi apps. You may arrange and reconfigure permissions under security by limitting some apps' auto start features..
