Nope, you can unlock stable ROMs. I had the same issue and just unlocked my Redmi Note 4 SD running stable 8.2.4.0. Some people recommend to locate device first in Mi Cloud portal what I did, but that was not the solution for me. The final solution was step 3 of the steps below. It said lock...- thb2602

Right, also waiting for Redmi 4 Pro with Band 20. Hope it will come (soon). I bought several Redmi 3 so far at Gearbest and Geekbuying. All well. Geekbuying is sometimes little bit cheaper.- thb2602
