No, it's not included in the ROM, you must update it in fastboot. I think you need TWRP, as it's stated in the first post of this topic. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=50678 6.5.7+ is the one with updated touch drivers. There is also a new TWRP for MIUI8.

No, you can upgrade without wiping (cache and dalvik if you want, but it's not even necessary). First update you can do with your current twrp but then you will have to update it because of touch drivers. Also note that last xiaomi.eu version is 7.3.10 (in the MIUI 7.3 folder is called Mi5...

Xiaomi released China stable V7.3.10.0.MAACNDD. I guess it will be the last stable for a while.

That's not true, I was able to unlock with no problem from fake 7.2.4.0.0. Better to try with your current version and if that fails flash china dev. And I think that recent china stable let you unlock the bootloader (at least from the info I can gather in the forums).

Thanks for the awesome work (now using 7.3.2.0 stable). A couple of questions: - Did any of you notice higher battery drain on 7.3.2 than on 7.2.13? I'm pretty sure that with the latter my Mi5 was able to last longer (~30%). - Is 7.3.3.0 gonna be released?
