I have that same issue on Mi Mix using Google music through my car stereo.

forgive my noob question...but now that I am on 6.12.8 and I want to go to the newest version 6.12.22 do I install the rom onto my phone, enter twrp and flash or install. I want to keep everything as is as far as apps etc, just install the newest rom. Thanks in advance

Right here in this site..I was going to copy the link direct but I can't as I don't have 10 posts yet. Go to the 6.12.8 post and just click on the first of three download sources and in that list of files you will find the mi mix file. Hope that helps.
