Clean flash without restoring app data. Sucks but the only way to figure out if it's a ROM or upgrade/app issue.

None of these issues after a clean flash so I guess the update was the culprit.

Don't use ES File Explorer... it wasn't banned from playstore without reason.

Found the reason for this bug - these links are opened in mi document viewer which crashes. Only way to fix it was freezing this system app with titanium backup. Yay!

Restore twrp backup, then reflash the release from this backup.

I wouldn't recommend flashing the latest 11.0.6.0 mi 8 stable. After updating from 11.0.5.0 both vibration feedback and OK Google voice activation was broken..

11.0.6.0 for Dipper breaks vibration feedback. It's still enabled in settings but not working. Disabling and re-enabling doesn't fix it. *edit* OK Google also broken. lol... Yeah don't update 11.0.5.0 to 11.0.6.0

Yeah just try a clean flash of 11.0.5.0, zero issues on MI 8. (except an Android Q related bug with google search that's also in beta)

Cannot confirm on MI 8 running either last weeks beta or 11.0.4/5.0 stable release. Whatsapp Icon does show up on AOD. Your report is lacking details..are you maybe using a new feature like the option in latest beta to use colour icons on AOD instead of MIUI icons ?
