Xiaomi.eu for Garnet is based on the China ROM, there is no guarantee that a global ROM with the same number will be released at the same time (or even at all)

- you don't have the same phone
- you are not using the Xiaomi.eu ROM

Google is always messing with security, and applications can have their owns checks, so it is hard to give you warranties on what will work in the future. I would not say it is reliable, simply because tomorrow your favourite bank may release an app version that perfectly check if you have an...
Then just report it in the bug thread. Keep in mind, the developers don't own all the supported models, so they often cannot test the fixes that they try to provide.
It seems to be a modem issue, but you have forced the install of global ROM on a CN device, so you won't be able to flash the modem.
If you have a way to reinstall the CN ROM, it may be a solution. But this is not what you wanted in the first place.
