No gapps ROM how to.

Hi forum members. I have Mi mix2 with 12.0.1.0 rom installed. I do not need gapps. Is there any way to remove them? Possible option I am thinking about 1. Modify ROM before installing it 2. Remove gapps on the installed ROM 3. Do not include gapps while building ROM Can anyone give me an advise...
