    Why Xiaomi/MIUI ?

Nostalgia yeah, and also trust and lineage. MIUI has been around for a very long time, before Xiaomi even existed. It was a custom ROM that provided a complete experience, often better than stock ROM's or CyanogenMod. It has hacker/kanger roots, was originally a non commercial product, and...

I tried it internally for ingbrzy before he uploaded the latest build. All seemed fine for me, no FC's. Camera and LTE internet were working. I didn't really try much else though. EDIT: Google Account not working (Webview problem), hang tight - he is working on it

Why do not we have default encryption on .eu roms?

I can't speak for the Mi6 but on the Poco in particular, TWRP cannot decrypt the stock FDE at all. Yes, official firmware uses the old FDE and not FBE, lol.... But it's not difficult to modify fstab and change the encryption flag. So why not just do it yourself? You might need Magisk though...

Well yeah, the Xiaomi.eu build was taken down because it had problems, so that's what everyone should be doing.

What is the problem if I do not install any custom ROM and continue with using the official China Rom pre-installed on Mi 8 SE?

There are a LOT of changes, this list of posted on every single release thread in the forum:

    Streaming only in 540p

If you're *that* concerned about getting hi-def on such a tiny screen (I can't really notice on <7") you can always get a hacked APK. There are some mainstream flagships that don't support Widevine L1 even. If a phone has no US presence like Xiaomi then it definitely won't. Most of us are aware...

MIUI 10 - Android 8.1 base vs 7.1 base, what are the differences?

Found out that Autofill framework is new in Oreo, which I find extremely useful for LastPass - so that's settled

MIUI 10 - Android 8.1 base vs 7.1 base, what are the differences?

Hey guys, I want to ask others with recent experience what differences they know of MIUI 10 based on Oreo 8.1 vs Nougat 7.1. Technical capability, to be specific. Is 7.1 missing out on anything? Security updates? Background (skip this if you don't care why I'm asking): After owning Mi A1 for...

Miui Rom On Mi A1 To Have A Mi 5x With Unlocked Lte

Beside the point. I was quoted with an answer that was unrelated to my post. On to the point - the device is technically unbrickable, if you're willing to take apart the device (EDL kick with testpoint is always possible, even with destroyed bootloader) which you can use qualcomm tool to...

I also plan to get the phone later in the year. Unsure if I'll be importing the Poco F1 or the Pocophone (is there any difference at all? Modem perhaps?) so I too hope so. If not, I will have to make my own MIUI builds haha. I plan on getting back into MIUI modding soon anyway - will get a head...

Miui Rom On Mi A1 To Have A Mi 5x With Unlocked Lte

Why are you quoting me? Kernel source is completely off topic. Anyway I answered my own question, the difference is that Mi A1 uses what's called a skip_initrd system, I won't go into technical details here because nobody will understand. It's probably possible to port MIUI though, if someone...

    Install Via Usb

Isn't this only an MIUI thing? Regular Android only has USB Debugging, then "Unknown Sources" in Security - these both allow "adb install" command to work. Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk

Miui Rom On Mi A1 To Have A Mi 5x With Unlocked Lte

I know all that. But why hasn't anybody just repackaged the 5x firmware? They both just use regular sparse image formats for fastboot flashing... Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk

    Mi A1 Or 5x?

M1 A1 is great, but I do miss some MIUI features. For example, the AOSP recents (card UI) is horrible. But I also don't miss all those useless MIUI features that I never used. I got the Mi A1 because I was hoping to find the time to use it as a base (compared to 5X) to reverse-engineer some...

Miui Rom On Mi A1 To Have A Mi 5x With Unlocked Lte

If 5X and A1 are the same, why hasn't anybody just tried cross flashing? Unlock bootloader, flash the fastboot images of 5x, see what happens? I'm 99% sure that you can't fastboot brick Snapdragon devices (they're well protected, or they at least don't expose fastboot to be flashed in fastboot...
