On Newman, stock recovery will fail while checking the signature of the MIUI zip file (or most other ROMs too). You have to first install ClockworkMod recovery (or TWRP), and flash MIUI from it... At least, that's what I remember when I had the Newman N2. There is also another solution...

@ingbrzy , @basyvava : in such a case, I'm happily using my P780 with a MIUI 3.11.1 for several days already. It's from russian lenovo-forums site. Their modification (as far as I understand) is done by ViNNNtalik and BurgerZ and is originally based on Genokolar's port for P780. Here is the link...

Hi all, thanks for the effort of all those providing the ported versions, but I have to report, that on my Lenovo P780, the installation does not work. I'm installing the ZIP downloaded here over unofficial MIUI 3.9.13 czech/slovak language based on russian MIUI 3.9.13 (from lenovo-forums.ru)...
