Download Global Dev, install via updater then you should be able to unlock your bootloader from there. Had the same problem, unlocked bootloader on global dev with no issues then went through the usual install of TWRP and SuperSU. Good lucl

Was on global dev and had to use china dev in order to unlock the bootloader. Was having the same "stuck at 50%" problem, so I'm guessing a dev rom is advised.

MI Backup only backs up system settings , homescreen layout and apps, but not app date. I would root the phone first and backup with a tool like titanium backup.

Is that for the MI5s or MI5s Plus and which rom did you use?

I'm assuming if you flash the rom then re-lock the bootloader it would work? Only reasons for NFC not to work would be an unlocked bootloader or rooted phone. But I could be wrong.

Have done that already both with Google's ADB drivers and the drivers that came with Mi Flash.

So, quick update. Managed to unlock bootloader last night by updating to the new Global Dev for the Mi5S Plus. However a new problem has arisen, as usual. Using ADB, it recognises the phone whilst in normal mode with USB debugging on. The moment I reboot it into fastboot mode (to flash TWRP)...
