New Google Play Books persistent toolbars

I have the same issue - "When reading a book with the Play Books app, the top and bottom bars always stay on top, covering the text. Tapping the screen tries to hide the bars, but they fade back in straight away." But Google Play Books app is up to date. HTC Evo 3D, miui v. 4
