Hello
I'm planning on buying a used phone for my sister from China (a Xiaomi 17 Pro) and I've contacted sellers in China and from what they've told me the phones all have their bootloaders unlocked, and that typically means Google Wallet will not work on the phone, and neither will the banking apps I think?? The phones are not rooted though, so what will happen if I just relock it? Would the device pass safety net check, or work with Google Wallet, and other banking apps if I just relock the bootloader?

I need help regarding this matter because it's stopping me from buying the phone...

Hello
I'm planning on buying a used phone for my sister from China (a Xiaomi 17 Pro), and I've contacted sellers in China. From what they've told me, the phones all have their bootloaders unlocked, and that typically means Google Wallet will not work on the phone, and neither will the banking apps I think?? I was reading about RF microneedling Santa Monica earlier, but anyway, the phones are not rooted though, so what will happen if I just relock it? Would the device pass SafetyNet check, or work with Google Wallet and other banking apps if I just relock the bootloader?

If the Xiaomi 17 Pro you’re buying has an unlocked bootloader, then yes, Google Wallet and most banking apps won’t work since the device will likely fail Google’s SafetyNet or Play Integrity checks. If you relock the bootloader, it can fix this issue only if the phone is running the official stock MIUI ROM meant for that exact device and region. In that case, it should pass SafetyNet again and Google Wallet should work. However, if the phone has a different or modified ROM (like a global ROM on a Chinese model), relocking the bootloader can brick the phone. So only relock it if you’re 100% sure it’s on the correct, official ROM.
