Hi - I have Mi5 and yesterday set it back to factory settings. So lost all my google apps.
I have MIUI 7.0 NRD90M Android 8.5.3.0. I used the Mi Updater app to upgrade to this version ( from the Mi Europe ROM page )
I then downloaded Chrome from Mi Market so I could use that to download Google installer from the Mi5 download page as I had reada that Mi Browser doesn't work for that download, but whilst it installs ok, it just sits there 'checking info' at the end of the process and eventually just times out without finishing. I have a sim in the phone - 3uk - and browser works on with 4G and Wi-Fi etc
All the usual things have been done. Clear cache memory for each google app. Reboot. Try Again. Delete google installer and download from Mi Market. Exactly the same problem ensues. google product forums just suggests doing what I have already done.
Does anyone know if there is an optimum version of Miui, together with a specific version of google installer that might resolve this problem ? Or any other suggestions I might try ?
Thanks
