I had the same error, after finishing the call I had to lock the screen and reopen it to restore the brightness

which version you are using?
I too started facing screen not waking up after call in stable 12.0.3.0 version on my k20pro

I have tried another rom mod version with version 12.0.3, but no longer have this error. (not convenient to say here)
