New Mi-one Miui v 3.5.10 Google Play "No Connection"

Hi all. Don't know if this is in the right place but any help will be much appreciated. I have the following problem with Google Play app. When I try to connect I get the error "No Connection Retry". I have checked the time in settings to sysytem time, cleared the cache and reset the phone, but still no good. If I use my brower to go to Google Play I can get in no problem. Help please.

Hi folks. here is an update to my problem above. I'm also not able to add my google account, getting the message " cant establish a reliable data connection to the server". I've looked extensively on the various forums and have had no joy in fixing the problem. Any help will be much appreciated.
