Mi4 Different Versions´ compatibility

I would lilke to buy Mi4 and I dont care for LTE so WCDMA Version would be OK for me...
But I really like Custom Roms and improvements like Wajk did for the Mi2s ..

Will it be a problem or will future ROMs be usable for all versions since the "important" Hardware is the same on all phones ?
