'm Redmi note 4 x user for over 6 years. It still works great but it's specs are not enough for modern apps. That's why I decided to buy Redmi note 13 pro 5g. It's nice phone with great specs. However it has 1 big flaw - it's OS is terrible. I loved previous MIUI - it was fast, responsive and worked with everything. New Hyper OS and MIUI 14 is getting on my nerves over and over again. It's official EU ROM and with Snapdragon cpu.
The problem is that no matter what I do calendar apps don't work properly. Calendar is one of the most important and basic function of any phone. I tried over 10 different apps, read many posts and guides (a lof of people have notification problems on MIUI 14 and HyperOS) but I couldn't find a solution. The problem is that notifications won't work when the screen is OFF (calendar only, rest apps work fine). I can set different calendar events but they start working ONLY when I turn ON the screen which makes calendar completely useless. Without it any phone is as good as a trash. I read about many problems with XIAOMI OS - it aggressively kills background notifications to save battery (I also set permissions, autostart and turned off battery optiomization for apps). I can't believe how bad their OS has become over the years. I guess I have to go back to my Redmi note 4x and wait for something else that has no problems with calendar notifications. There are other options but I also need 3,5 mm headphone jack in it and that's getting rare these days.
