Questions to xiaomi.eu users on Xiaomi 15

Hi! I have bought a Xiaomi 15 Global to replace my current Mi 11 Ultra.

My old Mi 11 Ultra is currently on HyperOS 1.0.8.0 xiaomi.eu ROM (Android 14), which can be updated to HyperOS 2 xiaomi.eu

My new Xiaomi 15 is currently updated to the latest available official global HyperOS 2.0.222.0 (Android 16)

I wanted to stick with the official global ROM, but I have noticed a couple of issues that are seriously bugging me.

1. Home screen icons can only be arranged max 5 in a row and they are way smaller in size than 6 in a row arrangement on my Mi 11 Ultra. Icon size is maxed out in settings. I can agree that on a 6.3 screen 6 icons would look pretty dense and small and that might be not available, but why make them even smaller than 6 icons on 6.7 screen?

2. Keyboard has this padding on the bottom which takes way too much space. Also on the home screen there is padding as well. Even with the gesture indicator hidden. Might be Android 16 issue.

3. Some fonts are too thin. This happens in Chrome and some apps I'm working on. I had this issue on the Chinese MIUI previously on Mi 11 Ultra and upgrading to xiaomi.eu has fixed this issue.

If there any fellow Xiaomi 15 users on xiaomi.eu ROM please advice if any of these issues are fixed

Also, a question. With my experience on using HyperOS 1 EU on Mi 11 Ultra with TWRP reboots take something close to 5 minutes. My Xiaomi 15 on the global ROM reboots in under a minute. Mi 11 Ultra on the stock Chinese ROM was also rebooting very fast. Will reboots become much longer on the xiaomi.eu?

I've heard that bootloader unlock process has became harder and I am actually okay using the global version. But unfortunately, these issues are way too annoying. Not to talk about missing call recording.

Hi,

the first question is about comparison which I dont have, so I cant answer that. Also it's a design choice by Xiaomi so no one will be able to do anything about it.

Regarding the keyboard padding, I can confirm that on xiaomi.eu, there is absolutely no padding there as long as fullscreen indicator is disabled, and just enough for the indicator to be displayed if its on.

About the fonts, it's a thing of comparison once again so I can't tell for certain if your problem is fixed, but I can tell you that I haven't had any serious problems reading text on the Xiaomi 15.

I didn't pay attention to it while it was on global ROM, but right now my Xiaomi 15 takes precisely 31 seconds for a full reboot - and thats with loads of pre- and post-boot operations from my magisk modifications.

PS.: It is pretty much impossible to obtain bootloader unlock permission manually. But there is a script that automatically sends the permission request a few milliseconds after the quota is reset. Even with this method, it usually takes a few tries (=days), but the chance of getting it is infinitely higher than when doing it manually. You can find the method as well as all information/updates about unlocking methods/restrictions in this XDA thread.
PPS.: HyperOS based on Android 16 is only available on global for now. Xiaomi.eu ROM for Xiaomi 15 is based on CN ROM, so it uses Android 15. Keep that in mind in case you're using any A16 features.

I hope this helps - hmu if you need more information.
