Don't know but I would download the latest one, if I were you. Btw, I'm using the latest dev eu version miui9 and it works great.

I still have MIUI 8 stable on ROM, because I use Xposed. I think in MIUI 9 the Xposed is quite immature yet.

8.5.4 is nougat 7.1 rom. like Miui9
