Invalid Trigger area for expanding notifications way too small

On MIUI 11, I was able to drag on a notification starting from anywhere and pull down to expand the contents: However on MIUI 12, the zone where you can drag to expand on a notification is only on the bottom and is way too thin, and it takes way too many attempts to successfully pull it off

Swipe down anywhere on the notification with two fingers. Easier when you know this.
