Android 4.3 for Mi2/2S/2A open source


Hi guys,
I just discovered the following threads in xda:

It’s about ROM [3.10.28] Android 4.3.1_r1 JLS36I for Xiaomi Mi2/2S, apparently developed by ivan87, using the same open source kernel posted here.
According to the OP in both threads, this last release supports FM Radio and everything (audio, camera etc.) seems to work fine, while according to other users comments, it also has a good battery life!
Sounds interesting… And it’s hard to believe that there is no post in this forum about this ROM. Or am I missing something? Anyway…

Looks interesting but u need to be careful not to brik your phone...
Also I hope miui v6 will know how to use the battery in a better way

I believe that the flashing method is the same as in all other ROMs, requiring a full wipe before flashing.
Now, I think that the meaning of the sentence you are quoting is that you should avoid formatting internal storage and resetting factory data from inside the ROM. There are such options in Settings/Storage and Settings/Backup and Restore respectively.
 
Tried it today. Could not get root-access. Installed SuperSU, but that did not work (binaries missing?). Tried SuperUser as well: same result. Restored my backup as I need root. How can I get that?

Have you enabled Developer Options? There is Root Access Option under Developer Options.
 
Tried again. Enabled Developer-options, but still no root. (No option within developer-settings).
Flashed "4.3SuperSU.zip" found somewhere else, and now have root-access. :)
When starting SuperSU app, it wants to update its binaries, and that does not succeed within 5 minutes. :(
Now will try this ROM for a while to see how it behaves.

Some remarks:
- Camera works.
- No specific CM settings available for Statusbar (battery-icon etc) and Notifications. Pitty...
- On the lock-screen, slider shortcuts can not be configured (cannot find an option in system settings).
- GPS, Bluetooth, WIFI works
- Battery-usage: needs a day to test.

I was using Cofface's rom, as this was the best cm10.2 for me. But battery-usage (with my setup) was still some 4%-5% per hour in idle. (other CM10.2 roms it was worse). I hope this will be better in this ROM.

It's a aosp build so it's "vanillia" android but download xposed then install gravitybox or xblast tools ;)
 
Okay so I'm using this ROM and it's the best 4.3.1 version for Mi2S out there. Very good battery life, haven't found any bugs. I installed supersu because it didn't come with root and supersu worked fine. So far so good... i get decent scores in antutu and 3d mark.

Can you post screenshot of your battery life?! Because mine is very bad

Hmm on second thought, don't that battery is up to speed. Itbn's weird because while using the ph the battery does not drain all that much but while wifi was on and it was asleep, it drained by around 20% in 9 hours. I charged it last night and its at about 40% now. I'll post a screen shot soon.
