aps2sd

a2sd reinstall (only if you did not have the ext partition when you installed miui, if you had, you already have a2sd working)
a2sd zipaling
a2sd cachesd (i think that was the command to move dalvik to the ext partition)

Hi all,

How can I get the a2sd to work on the 0.12.3?

This is what I did.

1) Wipe all with RA 2.0, twice
2) Create a partition
3) Upgrade partition to ext3
4) Flash rom
5) Flash gapps
6) Reboot phone
7) Run the following commands
a2sd reinstall
a2sd zipalign
a2sd cachesd
8) Reboot phone

And after all these steps I still cannot move my apps to my sd card. Have I done anything wrong? I need help pls. Thank you guys!

installing the rom with the ext3 partition present automatically puts your apps on it.

running those commands also moved dalvik-cache to it.

you should be set.

Thank you for your reply. But when I goes to settings > programs > manage applications. The 'move to SD card' button is still greyed out. Any ideas why is this happening? Thank you once again.

EDITED: I realised apps downloaded from the market is movable to the SD card, but not for apps installed via adb. Is this correct?

there are apps that are movable, and apps that ar not.

i never knew it depended on where you downloaded them.

Do you have an ext3 partition ? if you do, using froyo's method to move apps, is pointless.

I use Darktremor's a2sd and it works fantastic for me. Keep in mind that if you run a2sd you will likely get very little help in this MIUI forum should you have any questions or issues. For some odd reason the devs here (and I find most devs in general) seem to have something against apps2sd, a2sd and the like. All I can say is that since I installed DT's a2sd my phone has been fine and fast.

One possible downer, which I have not yet tested is that I cannot seem to flash new versions of MIUI over previous versions and must complete wipe every time. I may uninstall a2sd and see if the issue persists.

i don´t really want to make you feel bad... but... miui has darktremors a2sd preinstalled, just a .0 version, not the latest .2 :p (if it has some customizations, i don´t no)

Doesn't make me feel bad at all, I appreciate the info. I thought that was the case, but I was rained on previously on XDA when I brought it up.

If it is already built into the ROM, why does there seem to be such a lack of support for it here? I mean, I know I have a "ton" of space on the EVO, but I really love the way DT's a2sd handles things. Anyway, good to get confirmation that a2sd is already cooked in. Hopefully future questions regarding a2sd will be met with information/guidance as you've provided here rather than judgment/discouragement.

its not that its "not supported", but, this forum is mainly for translations, the rest of the support is "user based", ithink

i do my best tho xD
