I was exploring my Xiaomi 1 which my mother has been using after I upgraded to Xiaomi 2. There is an app that can control the 2G/3G and Wi-fi access for each app. Where can I access that on my Xiaomi 2? Her Xiaomi 1 is using stock MIUI in Chinese, not the translated MIUI.

Did you even search for that app before posting? C'mon... its Monitor app.

Hmm... I actually went into Monitor app but could not find the options. I went through the app again and found what I need in Traffic Stats > Manage App Connections.

Why would you want to use 2g? It's very slow and inefficient in comparison to 3g. If 3g is available in your area, why not using it all the time?

maybe coz of low battery consumption of 2g connection?

The Xiaomi 1 is used by my mother. Her plan doesn't include a 3G data bundle. The telco provider charges almost $200 for 60MB of 3G data usage for her mobile subscription.

I always use 2g only if I know I'm not planning on using Internet for a while, also at home, the 3g is only 2bars whereas 2g is max strength

You can enforce 2G in Settings -> Mobile network settings -> Network type selection.

That's for the whole phone, saving battery in the process.
