Hey, I have a problem with the camera of my Mi2. I can't take close pictures or scan QR-codes anymore. The camera can't focus it. Anyone experienced such an issue and can help me out?

I have focus problem too on my mi2s 32gb on close subjects...... and sometimes it misses the sync between flash and photo, so the photo is dark.....I hope someone could fix this.
I tried other cam apps and some are good, but I notices a loss of resolution compared to the default camera.

I've noticed it too. MIUI camera, Focal and stock camera. Don't know how to fix it.

Well, since focusing on my Mi2 ain't working well too, I'm swapping in the focus options betwen CAF and MACRO. Hope this is at least bit helpful.

Even I use macro the close pictures are still blurry. Might it be an hardware issue? Because few weeks ago it worked fine.

Might be soft problem. Try to download latest MIUI release again and apply that again. If it's still messed up, it's probably because of that exact release OR as you mentioned HW is bad.

Thanks for the advice. I tried to flash the latest release again after a whipe but still the same problem. As I stay in China these days I will go and let check if it's HW related and probably change the camera.

Open the device. Reseat the rubber cap on the camera module. Close the device leaving the cap on the camera while closing.

I found blurry photos a while back, then if the phone was put into standby and re opened, randomly the image was clear.

This was back in August, about 30% were out of focus. Must have been s/w as it cleared

Today I went to several shops and after no one could help me I let them replace the whole camera module and still got the same problem. I also flashed the standard Xiaomi Rom without any success. Now my last hope is that one of the upcoming Roms will fix it.

Then it must be SW problem. Sadly. Though, I'm not using phone as a camera, so I don't mind it at all. Thanks for the try changing entire camera. At least now all of us know it must be SW problem. Or motherboard or how's it called. :)

It's a software issue, I'm having similar problems with the included camara app, but using ProCapture everything looks sharp and in focus.

Xiaomi App (Tap to focus in X,C,V keys)

ProCapture (Tap to focus in X,C,V keys)

@oile's fix worked for me too, way back after I had changed the screen on my phone and the pictures got blurry...

I think the built-in camera app in miui6 is flawed.
It always (with no exception) refocused on whatever is in the center of the camera's view, even if I tap-to-focus and the camera does focus where I want it to focus beforehand.

Someone @borka recommended OpenCamera (available on Google Play Store) for me, and I've gotta say that's an awesome camera app...
So many features packed in that app, and additionally tap-to-focus actually works.

Try it, you'll love it!

Glad to help you guys.
You don't know what I went through to have a perfect mi2s after I got the non working camera. Better not to remember it.
I'll try opencamera :)

I would like to try this. How is the procedure?

BTW, how come the camera works well with some roms, and from a certain version onwards stopped working?
How is that corrected by reseat the rubber cap, e.g., hardware issue?

In Mi4i the camera works flawless up to v6.5.6.0. From this version onwards we get Focus Issue.
This can be 90% solved by flashing Sensei Kernel or a third party rom, like CM or Mookee, etc.

Resuming, its a software issue and I don't think that has anything to do with the rubber cap....

If you never opened or smashed your mi2s, you simply don't have the problem described here. Bye
