Hello everybody.

Totally new to Android and would love it if I could get rid of all the Chinese bloatware that came with
my MI2S. Hope someone has the time and can explain a step by step walk through how to flash a new custom rom. I really tried to find some answers how to flash but need a very simple and clear instruction for a complete novice here.
Many thanks,
Jens

Download our rom multilang (aries), put the rom into USB storage, flash rom via Updater app (hit menu button and choose installation pack from USB)

Thank you for your quick response. Got the rom on my computer now and not sure what you meant by USB storage. Do I have to connect with Android File Transfer and put rom by usb cable on sd card and use the update app or is it completely different?
Thank you for taking your time and helping me here. So very appreciated.

Actually I just got it updated and the Chinese Apps are gone. Thank you so much. I did try for the last 2 weeks to get the Kitkat rom installed as well. Do you have a short tutorial for this as well?

RTFM. No seriously, try reading the forum a bit instead of asking questions that have been asked a 1000 times already.
Just read the stickies...

The best KitKat roms atm are the AOSP and the Mokee rom.

Enjoy your phone... and remember

Hi Robin Hood00.

Thank you so much for all the links and I can assure you I have read every single one before I posted my question.
Maybe you have not read my first post mentioning that I am a complete Newbie to Android and anything with
  • mount and format system1 or system2
  • fix permissions on system1 or system2
  • set bootmode to system1 or system2
  • automatically checks for install-recovery.sh on both systems and asks you if you want to delete them
  • TrueDualBoot
does not mean anything to me and is not helpful at all.
You might have a point that I am better off not trying to flash a rom for the sake of my phone but I did hope someone could mentor me with a very simple step by step tutorial easy to follow.
Thanks for your time anyway.
Cheers,
Jens

Hey,

I understand. And I could do that. But I'm way too busy to do so. Beside that, if you read those threads again, and not just the opening post, but a little bit more. Those things will become pretty clear. Just ask yourself if your willing to invest some time in getting to know your phone :)

And of course you can always ask google questions... Like "How to flash a custom rom on android" or But I suggest you take some more time, all those things youre in doubt about right now(incl. that list), will be explained in the threats I mentioned. Especially the CWM thread. There is a huge pile of information just waiting for you to consume it.

So I'll get you started by telling you this phone has two systems, which both have Android installed, so you have dualboot. When you enable truedualboot you can use Miui on one system and any other rom on the other system, this way the app space is split between the two systems. If you disable truedualboot, the app space gets shared. So if you are willing to flash a custom rom(which you definitly should because AOSP and Mokee are A LOT BETTER than Miui!)... it needs to be enabled.

For all your other questions, I suggest reading the threads more, use the search function(as most questions have already been asked and answered). Also XDA-developers can be a great source with lots of information about Android and they have a nice Wiki.

Good luck, you will succed easily ;)

Oh... and dont forget to read this first...

Thank you so much and don't ask me how I did it but I got dual mode enabled and Mokee up and running on system 2
Don't ask me how I did it but it worked. Now I am exploring Mokee but can't find google store and don't know how to flash it.
If you do have a couple of minutes and don't mind me pesting you I would be very appreciated for any help or direction how to fix this.
It is so frustrating being familiar with Apple IOS and working with jailbreak for years and being a complete dummy here.
Cheers,
Jens

Lol, read the thread... you can download GAPPS and flash them just like the rom. There is a lot of info in the thread about which GAPPS you should use. I haven't got the time to use Mokee myself, maybe I will try it later tonight :)

There is a like/thanks button which you can also use ^^

Never heard of GAAPS before but found the right one and Google Play is up and running.
Thank you again for your time and help. I assure you the couple of messages I got helped me so much and like I mentioned it is so frustrating not knowing how to work with all the threads.
Cheers,
Jens
