Device: Xiaomi Redmi 2 WCDMA 1GB version
ROM: 5.1.23 (Language, English)
Whatsapp version 2.11.505:

Problem: Whatsapp doesn't process new messages.
When I start my Whatsapp it shows the new messages.

What happens: Whatsapp stops running and can't process the messages.
Workaround: Lock the app, this will make sure that the app keeps running in the memory.

I don't know many people with a Redmi 2, please let me know if you can verify this bug.

In 5.2.6 it happens to me... exactly the same.

I do not know how to solve it... sorry...

Have you tried to work-around in my first post?
Display all open apps in the memory (by default this is the setting: hold the menu button for a second).
Swipe whatsapp down and it will stay in the memory.

Yes... I found that moving a bit the icon, it show a lock on it... we will see...

Not very intuitive but if it works... no problem.

Thanks.

You can also place it in apps that are allowed to be started by default.
Go to Security -> Permissions -> Autostart

Once again, it is just a workaround and should be fixed in one of the next releases.

Hi,

I also have the Redmi 2 (5.1.23), I have the same issue with Notif
Whatsapp and telegram

Also music player stop by itself when using the phone while listening to music, like if the phone can't run music and handle other app at the same time...

What a disapointment... I had the redmi1, the phone was flawless
I let myself tempted for the Redmi2 for the 4G and for the new design but the Rom is not good at all.

Too bad there is not Miui V5 for the Redmi2, it would make a perfect phone according to me.

There is a new stable rom released for Redmi 2 recently. 6.3.2.0

According to the Xiaomi Chinese forums it addresses this issue of background apps closing https://translate.google.ie/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http://www.miui.com/thread-2337147-1-1.html

You can download it here http://en.miui.com/download-261.html

I think this is a vital update for redmi 2 and xiaomi.eu should make a multi language version. The background app issues won't be solved in beta as it is multi phone rom.

Hi,

Thank you my friend for this info.
I flashed the Rom yesterday and the phone is working fine.
I guess when they say stable ROM they really mean it

The phone is fluid, no lag, no more spining wheel with "just a sec" everytime I press the home button and the most important, notifications are working!
Without needing to lock the app or any other trick, it works out of the box.
You can kill WhatsApp app, force close,... if someone write you a mess, you get the notif in a few seconds.
Same thing for telegram app.

I am really happy now and very satisfied with the phone thanks to you.

I invite every owner of the redmi2 to ditch developper ROM and install Stable!

Good to know.. I really hope xiaomi.eu can make make multi lang version of this rom for all the frustrated redmi 2 users.

Wow, thanks a lot Spixel.
So the problem is solved in the original ROM, now we only need to wait for the EU version.

Xiaomi.eu don't normally make stable rom for phones that have developer rom, so unless enough people request we will have to stick to using developer which doesn't work well with redmi 2.

I expect that the current Developer version at en.miui.com (Version: 5.2.13), will be updated to 5.2.27. This will include all the fixes from the stable build. Xiaomi.eu will use that version to create the international version.
I don't worry if the correct build will come. I only think that it will take 1 extra week before we will get it due to the Chinese New Year.

For time being, the solution is relatively simple. Locking the app does not seem necessary. At least I didn't swipe down and lock any app to make things work. Go to the system-app "Security" > "Permissions" > "Autostart"
Enable Whatsapp and if necessary any other app you need to. In my case Mailwise also didn't recieve push notifications.

After enabling the autostart permissions reboot and check. Whatsapp etc should be working fine now.
Seems not every app gets autostart permissions automatically. There are some apps that state autostart is disabled, still they work fine. (e.g. gmail)
