The Snapdragon powered RN4 does have a nougat ROM, but the mediatek version (MTK) doesnt.

Well, according to Xiaomi, Redmi Note 4 MTK devices will receive the miui 8.2 MIUI starting 20th of february! So we might expect nougat on the Redmi Note 4 MTK!

Where's your source? Don't forget that Xiaomi can update the MIUI version but that doesn't mean that the android version gets updated.

Yes, true! Nevertheless, we hope that the new update bring the nougat update!

I love to post the link to the site... but since I dont have more than 10 posts yet, im unable! But the source I get is the official xiaomi miui forum!

Somewhere else I read that MediaTek release the source code of Helio X20 chip! So I believe that is a question of time for getting nougat on Note 4.

Thanks for the replies. It does sound promising! Currently the ROM I have is good and stable but there are lots of little annoying things - primarily persistent apps like cf.lumen and Lastpass keep needing to be opened over and over. But yes, looks like a week or two we should have a global ROM.

Hello ;) I am a Xiaomi newbie and use the Redmi Note 4 with MTK Processor. Just a quick question: Do I need root to install the weekly roms or can I just load it and install it via update-app? Thanks guys:)

Yes> You need to unlock bootloader.
No> Root is not a requirement to install TWRP.

Let me know if you need some guidance.

Thank you:) I searched for official xiaomi roms and found an official developer rom called Miui Global 7.3.2. I installed it and it works good. Is it the same rom like the 7.3.2 in here?

They aren't going to put out an Android 7 build for mtk. They can't even fix the battery drain/battery bugs. :-( I will give another manufacturer my business next time. And for sure I won't do mtk based devices again...

This is my first and last mediatek chip what my phone uses. Everybody else get thy s**t together in advance and mediatek updates comes last. Why in the hell Xiaomi installs these processors if it's so hard to keep devices up to date like their other new models. This is so unfair. If they can't put these updates why they don't publish that source code so someone more skilled can do it? Why?

Don't buy redmi If you need good support.
It's the low cost branch of xiaomi.

That doesn't mean that sd version is evenly low cost branch but they get those updates first. Is Chinese people so crooked that you can blame product price to ****** update service when almost same price range sd version get that update when you can call it update up to date.
