Yes, it's possible, but I bet it will never happen.
I mean on MIUI.
There should be some ported ROM for RN2 using Android 6.0, but my previous experience with ported ROM is the is always something not working.

I said that is a ported version from le 1s which was released couple days ago. Just wanted to say that we have something and when it will be based on source from this device surely that camera focus will be working and gps( but tried gps and it was working for me).
It is not safe to install so I will edit my post and delete link
If we were, a little more demanding, they should be updated whenever the Mobile will support it. I think that the RN2 could be upgraded to Android 7, but at least it should have arrived until Android 6.
Because, if it was not for MIUI and all the staff that cares about translating ROM and keeping it up to date, it sure would not sell as many xiaomi.
That, for What pays for mine, I am very satisfied. That is.
The manufacturers that update less we should penalize the consumers.

2) AFAIK MTK didn't created the branch for 7 for X10 SOC. Usually they support only the current and next version at release, so 5 and 6.
