A. backup your phone

1. backup any important data and files

B. unlocked your phone

1. go to

http://en.miui.com/unlock/

2. apply for unlocking and create an account
3. wait for the confirmation code (mine takes around 24 hours)
4. download the "Mi Unlock App"
5. link your phone to the account
6. run the app and coonect your phone to the PC
7. unlock

C. install TWRP

1. download minimal_adb_fastboot and install
2. download twrp for mi max 2, then copy to adb install directory

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-fW9Ay5J4SfbU5EQk1CcDB0aFk/view?usp=sharing

3. boot phone into fastboot, volume down and power button
4. connect phone to pc
5. run adb, fastboot devices (to check if your phone is recognized)
6. fastboot flash recovery twrp_max2.img
7. fastboot boot twrp.img (this will automatically boot into twrp recovery)
8. reboot phone

D. install ROM

1. download Xiaomi.Eu 8.5.10 for Mi Max 2
2. copy to ohne's internal storage
3. turn off phone and boot into recovery
4. factory reset phone, wipe data, cache
5. install xiaomi.eu rom
6. reboot phone and wait
7. enjoy Xiaomi.Eu

miunlock doesn't work on my pc - says that file was modified or infected.
Can i still use my old version Mi_Flash_Unlock_1.1.0317.1_en to unlock.

edit : had to disable my virusscan - is ok now

It doesn't matter as long as it is in the internal rom during installation. Or if you have an OTG drive, you can copy the xiaomi.eu rom in the otg drive and install from there. Both method works for me.

Im on 7.6.22 beta. Whats the difference or which is better?

Beta rom 7.6.22 is so so much speedier and smoother the Stable.

The only major bug on current batch of Beta rom is that the Auto brightness does not work too well!

It may not be a big concern for many but it is a big concern to me as I move around indoor and outdoor in my daily work!

Not at the moment due to the screwed auto brightness. It is very irritating to me. I can't afford that.

Else, the beta, which is a MIUI 8.6 is quite a level up over MUIU 8.5 in term of speed and smoothness.

I'm using the official global 8.5.4.0 for the time being.

It stops for me at point 4 of rom install. I can choose reboot ,wipe data or connect tot miassistant... What to do??

here is the video i created watch it and enjoy
