Hello everyone..
I have gone through alot of threads here in this forum and also the Portuguese forum and have followed all sorts of methods to try and unlock my bootloader with no luck at all. I do not understand much about this but have tried to read and learn as much as possible, but now I am starting to loose my pacience with this.
Here is my phone rom:

First of all I want to explain the main reason why I want to unlock the bootloader. Basically my phone started to overheat, battery drains very rapidly and working very sluggish. I read that if I was to update the Rom it would most likely resolve this problem.
If I'm not mistaken, I first have to unlock the bootloader in order to do this. First step in doing so is to ask unlocking permission. So I have entered my Mi account in the Official Global Site and go to unlock tab up on top and then press unlock. I have followed all the steps.

Step 1. Download the Mi Unlock app to PC, and sign in with your Mi Account;
Step 2. Shut down your phone manually, and hold Volume down key and Power button to enter Fastboot mode;
Step 3. Connect your phone to PC using USB cable and click "Unlock".

and I get the following :

So, I go to Developer Options and go through the whole listing under developer options and I don't have Mi unlock status. I do have screen captures of everything thats under deveoper options, if anyone wants to bother with me.

I have tried the Mi flash unlock, XiaoMitool and nothing...so what now ???

P.S. I did ask for help in the Portuguese Forum but didn't get much help up to now.

Thank you for your pacience but please help..

As far as I can see you have a shop ROM on your phone, not an official original Xiaomi ROM. You can't unlock your device with a shop ROM.
So first you need to flash a China dev fastboot ROM with Miflash. You can get Miflash here https://en.miui.com/a-234.html or here https://xiaomiflashtool.com/.

Thank you for your reply.
ok, so now I understand that it needs to be flashed with a China Dev Rom. I have the Miflash and have tried to flash with 1542751928663.png = 1542752035044.pngand I got this message : 1542752122635.png

Then I went to MIUI official website and downloaded the following : 1542752303445.png =

and got the same message.

So now what ??

These are recovery ROMs which you downloaded, they can't be flashed with Miflash. Also you need China version (with two languages cn/en). Global ROMs can only be flashed with unlocked bootloader. Sorry, right now I couldn't find the link for the correct fastboot ROM.
You can try to flash the recovery ROM with the updater app (put ROM on your device and in app tip on the three dots in right upper corner, then "Choose update package"), Xiaomitool (http://xiaomitool.com/) or MI PC Suite (http://mipcsuite.com/). But no guarantee if it works.
Here is a link to Xiaomi global forum, maybe it helps: https://en.miui.com/thread-309122-1-1.html
Link for China dev ROM (use google translate): http://www.miui.com/download-308.html
Hope it helps you. For additional help please search here in the forum.

I would like to update my situation so it can be followed.

I tried the options that MeiGuddet has mentioned above and this is what happened. The only option that did anything was through MI PC Suite. I put my phone in what I think is recovery mode (phone turned off, pressed volume up and power button at the same time), plugged the phone to a usb port on the back of my computer and the program recognized my phone and prompted me with an available update. I went with this, took about an hour and successfully updated 1542928973154.png and here is my phone 1542929011182.png

I have been using my phone for 24h and it has resolved my initial problem with overheating, battery drain and lag wich is great.......

Now, in saying this.....I now cannot use google playstore to download apps that I was using.....is this normal? What should I do?

P.S. Many thanks to MeiGuddet for the time and pacience and the help he has given me....I greatly appreciate it...thank you.

I now have access to "Mi unlock status" in the developer options and have bounded my phone to the account and tried the unlock feature. I have to wait 72 hours.. lol
