After Miui stopped the Global Beta, I switched back to xiaomi.eu's rom and flashed the latest 9.7.4. .
I'm using a smart cover to lock and unlock my phone .. I noticed, that when I open my cover, to unlock my phone I often see a second the AOD display.
That means, that AOD is available, but the settings to full enable this feature is missing .. any chance that you can full add AOD for the Mi Note 2?

Thanks :)

I noticed this post a while back on mi forum, but didn't think it necessarily really includes Note 2.

If you check the original weibo post he refers to as a source, and try to translate it, you get more of a "maybe it should be, possibly" sort of result.

"The post also said since the 2016 Mi Note 2 also uses an OLED display, it will also get the feature. The AOD update will arrive on the Mi Note 2 after the Mi 8 and the Mi MIX 3 gets it."

Thanks for the Info.

Looks like they've included it in the latest beta rom (9.7.4), but not an option to activate it.

I haven't installed the 9.7.4 because of too many bugs and nothing new added of interest, still on 9.6.27, which is running well.

Don't expect anything new for Mi Note 2 as Xiaomi hasn't updated the Android version to even 8.1, nor the security patch in a long time.
Have rather been expecting an EOL announcement any time now, likely in connection with release of MIUI 11.

But who knows, always expect something wonderfull is about to happen.

9.7.4 runs fine for me (sure only with custom kernel .. stock kernel isn't usable on charging ) .

They announced that feature for the mi note 2, I'm sure that they will add it. That won't need much time to add .

Yes, cause the Mi Note 2 got it's 2 Android update. Let's hope the this device will get a Stable MIUI 11 before EOL arrived.

I'm still waiting for a real succecor .. the Mi Note 3 isn't a good one :/

What custom kernel are you using?

I keep an eye on XDA and LineageOS for example, but have never seen any real reason for me personally to change from Xiaomi.eu.

The Project Treble thing is interesting, more interesting than really useful I think, but is not supported any longer it seems.

My wife is very happy with her Mi Note 3, but it never was released in a global version.

I stopped buying Xiaomi after the Mix1 and Mi Note 2 & 3.
Maybe the Mix4 will be interesting.

I'm using Flappy Kernel.
With Stock Kernel Android Auto is often unusable.

But the Note 3 wasn't a flagship device like the Note 2 and doesn't have edge ;-)

As my note 2 was broken, I switched to Redmi 5 Plus - Redmi Note 5 and then Mi Mix 2s .. and know I repaired my Note 2 and still love this device :p .. Mix 2s is also a great device .. but feels like a stone in my hand :-D

Don't use Android Auto, so don't have that problem.

I don't like the "Edge" screens, not Samsungs either, the Note 2 LG screen is second rate at best, and the Note 2 doesn't even have any "edge" functionality.
The Mi Note 2 is just a fake Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge! ;-)

That I ended up with the Mi Note 2 was an accident - I bought it for my wife but she chose the Mi Note 3.
I was going to sell the Note 2, but started using it . . .

Ok, it's Xiaomis first attempt at a real Global phone, paired with the designer phone Mix1 (my favorite) is historically very interesting, and in general is quite good aside from the screen and lack of a good heat sink.

Any of our Chinese comrades know what is going on with the Mi Note 2?

"Delayed" beta now for second week, but not for the Mix1 - these two are oddly enough closely related, often even have the exact same modem files.

So something unusual is going on, but my Chinese is not good enough to find any information on the Mi forum.

Nice, thanks for the info !

We won't get Android 9, but MIUI 11 :)

Installed on my Mix1 with no problems so far, but Note 2 is my working phone, and I'm travelling over the weekend, so got cold feet because everything is suspended back in China.
Will probably do it Sunday evening back in Sweden.

Where did you see that we get MIUI 11?

Android 9 I can do without, see no real advantages with it, and some potential problems.

Works also fine on my Note 2 :)

No AOD in EU 9.8.29 as får se I can see, or have I misunderstood something?

Otherwise everything seems fine so far.

Nope, still no AOD.
Maybe we need to wait for MIUI 11 ;-)

I just received my new Asus Zenfone 6 today.
Waiting on Xiaomi is over.

But I'll keep the Mix1 as a collectors item, and continue using the Note 2 as long as it holds together.

Any update now miui 11 is out? Mi Note 2 has the aod features?

No AOD, that was a false alarm apparently.

Latest 9.9.26 has face unlock added, however, if that is interesting - I don't trust it security wise.

it`s a P-OLED Display indeed!
