Hello everyone , i bought a redmi note 7 a couple of days ago and the first thing i noticed was that the battery is draining insanely fast when on standby\idle when compared to my note 4 , i have done everything i can ( removed apps , disabled background apps , battery optimization etc) in my power to combat that but nothing seems to work , even having battery saver turned on doesn't do much , i am using the global rom , would flashing to the european rom fix this? Thanks in advance.

Check your battery stats, I faced Services Google Play huge drain, it was a google app fault.
Last update from the google play store fixed my draining issue

I have a redmi note 7 also a few months old now I am running Xiaomi.eu 10.3.2 stable, (PFGCNXM) and I have never had the problem with battery drain at all.
as a matter of fact with avg. use my battery last for 4 or 5 days.
I do have an app that automatically switches on airplane mode at night so that also really reduces power consumption.
I would recommend flashing the latest stable ROM... good luck, hope it all works out.

Did you try 10.3.3 stable cause I faced the draining issue with this rom

No, I stuck with 10.3.2 so far. I read the changelog and no big changes so I didn't update.
Over all of the years I have found out that sometimes updates can be disastrous and since I saw no need and my phone is running perfectly fine I am going to leave it as it is.
I also don't update apps unless I really must so the other remark - above - about the latest update from Google Play services might be causing an issue.
You can probably uninstall that update by going to the app info and hitting uninstall and it will go back to an older version but that's not always possible.
Also finding a good battery analyzer will show you which app or services are actually using most of your battery..

I downgraded the google play services (lol) to fix standby draining problem, I hope the next update will fix it

Can you look at " about phone " check to ROM version you are running ? A new phone with excessive battery drain is historically caused by a fake ROM ...If that's the case then " yes" flashing Xiaomi EU ROM should fix it ...Flashing EU ROM " might" fix it even if the ROM is legit ...

Ok so here's my rom version and my battery usage both hardware and software , mind you my phone charged to 100% at 20:00 and now it's 22:43 and i'm already down to 10% , is this justifiable? ( everything's turned off , background apps , location , google assistant etc). I don't know if this is important but my phone didn't have the sim removal tool in the case , it was shrink wrapped and all , maybe i got a re-used faulty one from a shady retailer?

No of course it's absolutely not normal that your phone uses 90% of its power in less than 3 hours so you either have a hardware problem or something bizarre is going on..
at that rate your phone would probably be getting hot just from the battery drain. Can you feel it getting warm at the back?
I wonder if this is a case for warranty? I would contact Xiaomi.
As a reference; with your screen on constantly and using the phone you should still get 8 to 12 hours of usage time.

Perhaps you meant it has used 10% in less than 3 hours? If that's the case that would still be extremely high battery consumption..
my phone can lie around all day on the table with everything on including Google assistant and what have you not. And it will use maybe 2 or 3%.
Hope this is helpful but perhaps you might want to consider flashing another rom?
(10.3.2. Is working great for me)

Sorry about that , was a bit absent minded when typing that sentence , yeah it's down 10% , not down TO 10% , in 3 hours , now it's down to 87% just laying there on standby , i legit have had the screen on for around 5 mins this whole time , is this normal? Do i have to return the phone?

Yes I already understood that :}
I would definitely recommend installing the following app which is a good battery monitor and shows you exactly where your power is going. I have used it and it works well
GSAM battery monitor

Have you already unlocked your bootloader and rooted your phone? If you have I think your warranty is void already anyway
because you have flashed a new ROM?

Go and use that battery monitor and see what happens in the next couple of days and where your power is going, after that I would say perhaps consider flashing another rom.

It's all just a matter of eliminating everything till you find what is causing the problem

Thanks , i will let the phone drain completely and charge it up again with the app running to check what's draining my battery , no i haven't unlocked the bootloader so i'm still under warranty and within the 14 day return period.

Just an update , after wasting the good part of two days , testing\messing with settings\apps and whatnot and after two factory resets i've come to the conclusion that it's either a faulty phone or a faulty battery , i'm on my second factory reset and with literally no apps installed the battery drained 3% from the time it booted up for the first time till it got done finishing up with the set-up. I'm returning it first thing on Monday. Thank you all for your help thus far!

To be fair booting up after factory reset can take some power because it's updating lots of apps..
but again for example I had my phone on 100% last night after charging and when I woke up this morning about 12 hours later after charging, it was on 99%.
That should be the kind of performance you're getting and clearly you are not so yeah I would go ahead and take it in for warranty claim. I would appreciate an update what happens. Thank you

Just got the phone back from service , there's nothing wrong with the battery or the phone overall , they even had the phone set to their wi-fi and it drained 55% in about 48 hours. So the thing is , when i turn it on to my own wi-fi the battery drains like crazy , the moment i turn off my wi-fi it stops . It's only on my own wi-fi that the battery goes haywire . I read somewhere , on some older post forums that some routers would just send traffic to the phone and kind-of wakelocking it ? i don't know exactly but it would appear that the battery drain is only on my own router with my wi-fi on . I can't really change router so i'm kind of stuck now.

I have no idea why your battery seems to drain more when you connect it to your own Wi-Fi but I do know that the test in the shop draining 55% in 48 hours while it is just lying around - not being used - still seems to me like a huge amount of battery drain.
If I don't use my phone and it's connected to everything it might use 7 or 8% in 24 hours.
You can draw your own conclusions but to me your battery consumption seems excessive to say the least..
Not 100% sure but I would suspect a software problem somewhere so you might still want to consider flashing a new ROM?
And by the way shops don't normally like dealing with warranty claims so maybe they're just trying to make it sound like nothing is wrong? something to think about.
Let me know how you get on? Good luck

That's what i thought as well , luckily in the EU you can return any electronic device within 14 days of purchase for whatever reason . At first they tried to avoid my request but after threatening legal action and reciting the EU legislation about consumer protection they issued me a refund . I've read here and there that it might be a faulty batch so with my refund i added another 100 or so euros and ordered myself a mi 9t. Thanks for the advice thus far :^)

7-8% battery drain in 24 hours while standy and connected to everything (I assume on WiFi) is really really amazing..

The best I got is about 1% drain while standby on Wifi or 2% standby on mobile data (I got 2 sim card active), and 1% drain while standby on airplane mode (about 7 hr).

I've got better battery result with 10.3.2, and more battery drain with 10.3.3

10.3.4 not tested yet
Yes, I'm running 10.3.2. and don't see any reason yet to update.
I am very happy with the battery consumption it's very low.
Very interesting to hear that 10. 3. 3 seems to use more power

I know it is amazing and I'm very happy with the phone.. and it is true I'm not just making it up.
It amazed me as well after I had it for a couple of weeks I realized how good it was on power :)

Got my new RN7 a week ago with global ROM and had it just sitting there while I waited for the unlock. Wifi enabled and mobile network enabled: 5% per day.
Right now I just put .eu ROM on it and disabled lots of stuff (for example finddevice app on my RN4 drained a lot by having wakelocks constantly, so I deleted the app via TitaniumBackup (same with joy[something], no idea why this is even included in .eu, but ok). Reboot after deleting system apps.
My RN4 has standby times of more than a week with the occasional use.

Yes that sounds about right and it is amazing!
Titanium is good to control some apps but be careful with it.. if you don't know what you are doing you can wreck your phone.
With intermittent use my phone will last about four days on one charge I am really happy with that

Finally, I'm still facing massive battery drain issue (in stand by, awake time, doesn't go in deep sleep) cause by services google play
Using 10.3.2, 10.3.3 or 10.3.4 rom doesn't change anything

How can I Fix that? My battery performance is bad
