WARNING: This method works 100% on GLOBAL phones, do not try to do it with an Indian version and of course if you lack minimum knowledge in command console environment and modification of the android system ... please do not continue reading.

Good morning, today we have to unlock and rotate this jewel of Chinese technology, so no more waiting ...

LET'S GO!!!

1- UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER
Turn on your phone and:

Enable the Developer option on your phone by tapping the "MIUI version" box 7 times: Settings >> about >> MIUI version.

Go to Developer Options: "Settings >> Additional Settings >> Developer Options".

Enable "USB Debugging" and "OEM Unlock".

You must also add your Mi account to "Mi Unlock Status" (also found under "Developer Options").

Install these two controllers (adb controllers, MTK controllers) on your PC.

Turn off the phone and press (without releasing) the POWER button and the VOL - button until the fastboot menu comes out.

1.1 - Download and decompress the file "miflash.unlock.unlock.v3.5.910.35" and run "miflash_unlock.exe" (it's inside the folder "miflash.unlock.v3.5.910.35") and accept the conditions by clicking on the "AGREE" button:

Log in to your Mi account (if you don't have one, sign up HERE)

2.png

Connect the phone to the PC using its USB cable and click on "Unlock" (you will be asked to verify it 2 more times).

The program will warn you that you MUST wait 168 hours to unlock the bootloader.

When 168 hours have passed, follow the instructions from step 1-1 again to perform the unlocking process and... Note 8 Pro unlocked ;)

Put the file "twrp.img" into the ADB folder that you have in C:\ (as I wrote before)

Turn off the phone and once it is turned off press (without releasing) the POWER button and the VOL- button until the fastboot menu comes out.

Open a CMD command console (in administrator mode) in C:/ADB (if you don't know how to do it, watch the video)

How do MIUI updates affect root?

I'm looking for a new phone and willing to give up development support as long as I have stable root and global rom.

Hi folks !
Can you please confirm that "LR Team v3.3.1-0924" TWRP is the latest that is compatible with Miui 11.0.1 or 11.0.2 for "global ROM" devices ?
By the way, if there are some future updates of the ROM after installing this TWRP and rooting with Magisk, can we install these updates without doing any "reverse" of recovery / boot ??? Or should we avoid any updates ???

Hello Klusoru, I own a global version bought from Aliexpress, and running PGGMIXM 11.0.1.0 (not done the update to 11.0.2.0 yet).
I already unlocked the bootloader as I did on all my previous Xiaomi. But I have not yet flashed TWRP and everything, because of all the warnings that I can read here and there, even on Xiaomi.eu (and also on Globe Roms website, which does not offer anything since it's based upon Xiaomi.eu ROMs).

From what I've understood right now (because I've looked around, not a lazy man , already seen your posts on XDA and on your website ...), there is an issue especially for users who have moved from Android 9 (Miui 10) to Android 10 (Miui 11), because the "old" TWRP were not compatible with Android 10 distribution (or at least some parts of the newest ROMS).

1) It seems that the TWRP you're advising (which is "LR Team v3.3.1-0924") is fully compatible wit Miui 11 (only "global", not Indian, but mine is not Indian), no bootloop or brick , am I right ?
2) If in any way I would lead to "brick", will I be able to flash with the special flash tool which require an account with "privilege" : my account is compatible for bootloader unlocking, is this the same kind of privilege ??
3) Lastly, my previous interrogation was also : if there are some future updates of the ROM after installing this TWRP and rooting with Magisk, can we install the automatic updates throug OTA without doing any "reverse" of recovery / boot ??? Or should we avoid any updates ???

Hope this time I give enough information. It's not lazyness, only the wish to have checked everything before to brick a phone or having issues unsolvable because of lack of "privilege" rights to flash and everything ...

I've found the information for the "mi account privilege" required for unbricking : a procedure which permits to know if you have the privilege, or to apply for it : https://c.mi.com/thread-2173190-1-0.html
For me, it's OK the rights are available so I should be able to flash back the genuine ROM if necessary , that's pretty cool

Great find!

This has reassured my faith in Mediatek chips because there's going to plenty of them on Redmi phones in 2020.

Just hope Xiaomi.EU re-considers Mediatek support with their custom roms.

If not, looks like any upcoming Xiaomi phones with new MT6885Z chip won't be supported either which is a shame.

Not really true at all. The account maybe bound to your PC but the rights to flash are not allowed if you don't have a partner's Xiaomi account (only given if you have a store or a technical service authorized by Xiaomi) so...

It's good, in fact it's the apropiate way to do it but sadly you still need an Authorized xiaomi's account.
You can see by yourself, in the very last step (when the files are uploaded to the phone) you'll receive the fatal message "you account is not authorized".
This is due to an online check of your account (yep it's bounded to your PC/laptop but it's NOT an service account)

@klurosu Is there any way to have xiaomi.eu with nfc working (Google pay) without root??
If I follow the procedure and then unroot, will it work?

My mobile is Mi 9T Pro. thx

I think that as soon as you unlock your phone, on stock ROM, your device becomes uncertified with Google PlayStore, which then stops GPay from working. The Xiaomi.eu ROM, I believe, attempts to mitigate against this to allow the device to be certified, so in theory, root should not be required for GPay using Xiaomi.eu ROM.

As far as I know when you install twrp you loose NFC so, if you find a way to install xiaomi.eu with normal recovery you are good to go

Hello, Happy New Year to all.
@ klusoru, I have RM Note 8 pro updated to MIUI Global 11.0.2.0 (PGGEUXM); do I risk brick?
I'm not interested in GPay but in Google Play and MIUI updates. Do I lose them with the root?
Thanks for the reply

Why take the risk?
Official Android 10 update is imminant for this model, so why not wait for that first and then see what happens next? Maybe Xiaomi will make unbricking a possibility? Unlikely, but there is always hope!

I just updated my rn8pro to PGGEUXM 11.0.3 version. Could you someone here tell me if it is possible to root it? I have read here that the last version of LRTWRP, (the recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-1210-REDMI_NOTE8PRO-CN-wzsx150.img) is compatible with it but I am not sure... My phone is EU model (Italian). It is unlocked. Thank you very much for answer!

Hello!

I am really appreciate for your tutorial, it is works!
I would like to ask you for will it work when an official miui ota update comes? thanks!

Hello.

Why we can't just copy the ROM to our phone, and then use the stock recovery to install?

I mean, going to "about phone" in settings and then tapping MIUI logo 11 times, and going to new menu at top right corner?

Thanks!
