hello guys i finally got my mi 10 ultra, i am already in love with this incredible phone!! i am only a bit disappointed about one thing, i noticed that 960 fps slow motion video are capped to 10 seconds (and checking on web this happens also in other phones)...why? is there any way to remove this limit? thanks

wait, 10 seconds?! mi 10 pro only records 3 second videos and only the last second is 960fps -_-
If I have to guess, the limitation is probably that the storage cannot handle that amount of data written to it, so they probably cache it in ram and write it afterwards. I would love to have a 10 second 960fps video though

no wait the final length is 10 seconds, i think real length is 3 seconds just like you.... but whaaat? i have 12gb of ram and it can handle just 3 seconds i think this is a very bad software limitation...i hope i can remove this with some magisk module or similar

oh now i get it, you mean the video after it's slowed down is 10 second. Yeah the same thing on 10 pro.
That's my guess as I cannot think of any other reason why it does that. Maybe someone with more technical knowledge can clear that up. But no matter the reason, it's still really disappointing. I have never been able to record a slow-motion clip that I'm happy with. it's either too short or the slow-motion part is too soon or too late and not recorded...

but so is not in this way also on samsung? damn i was so excited for this slow motion and at the end is completely useless...

Yeah the slow motion on this phone is effectively useless. If I'd known it was like this I probably wouldn't have bought it.

Definitely my last xiaomi phone. It was also my first.

I don't use slow motion often but when I do I sure as hell don't need it auto-editing like it does without me having any say in how much of the video is slowed, let alone being limited to like 5 seconds of recording.
I am on Mi Ultra with latest weekly rom (20.10.15) and my picture in the slow motion mode (doesn't matter what is the FPS value checked) is flickering. So video in this mode is useless for me in terms of quality :(

on my phone (still stock rom waiting for bootloader unlock) image flickers only with some light turned on...but that damned 3 seconds limit is total bullshit

Hardware based slow motion recording on this phone seems to cover 1080p at 240 fps at the most.

For native 960 fps, the camera sensor apparently needs an embedded DRAM to help process all the data, which actually most phones don't have.
Those that don't - and still offer a 960 fps mode - rely on a software-based approach, with software processing and interpolation to basically add duplicate frames and artificially create a 960 fps clip.

And about flickering - I've only seen it occur when trying to record a scene involving LED lights. Which is perfectly normal, if the LED lights are powered by alternating current. They basically turn on and off about 100 to 120 times a second (depending if electricity runs at 50hz or 60hz). Your eyes don't pick that up, but the camera will. That is, if you set it to high frame rates - to eliminate flicker, try 30fps.

damn so no way to bypass it in your opinion?

Hi, I have an Ultra too and I agree it's an amazing phone. If you have also installed the latest EU (12.0.15) I wanted to ask you about the slow motion modes, if you can record at 240 or 120 fps ... I find them in the options menu but once started they record me a normal video without slowdown effect.
