Hi everyone,

I am having issues with Android Auto (both wired and wirelessly) on the Mi 11 Ultra (Chinese ver.) with MIUI 12.5.17 stable EU Rom + unlocked bootloader. I am unable to send messages (SMS, Whatsapp) using the voice command (both with the steering wheel button and by pressing the mic button on the screen). Here is the scenario:

"Send and SMS to Mum"
"Ok, What's the message?"
"Hi how are you?"
*unable to hear the message. None of the coloured dots move*

No issues with Google Maps and voice command function works fine.

With Spotify, when I use the voice command and ask it to play a certain song, it will end up playing a completely different song.

I have tried looking on this forum and XDA forum for solutions and have tried everything (including uninstalling the Android Auto updates, re-installing it, enabling the Google Assistant settings to allow voice command work when phone is locked, tried connecting it to the car with different cables including the original Xiaomi 67W fast charger cable) but it's still not working properly. Does anyone have any solutions to this?

I have considered switching back to Global ROM but I don't like how Global doesn't allow safety net pass so I cannot use Google Pay... I don't want to Root my phone and lock the bootloader either so would much rather stay on EU ROM if possible...

I am quite certain that it is a ROM issue as I have tested Android Auto with Redmi Note 8 Pro (Global ver.) and it works flawlessly.

Although I love the phone, the issues with Android Auto has got me thinking whether I should have just waited for the Global version or get the Samsung S21 Ultra instead...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ya its really strange, because it works in my Ford Focus 2017.
I had a CN mi 11 ultra version to, with the stable eu rom to and on miui 12.5.17 to.

Whatsapp i don't know, never used this app...

And i don't do anything else then plug in the original turbo charge usb cable...

I'm using a aftermarket carplay installed into my MINI Cooper Countryman 2017. Initially I thought the issue was carplay itself but I've also tested it with an iPhone and it works flawlessly. Pretty sure the issue is with the EU rom. However, I have not tested the mi 11 ultra global rom with Android auto and I don't want to flash it just to test it out as I don't want to keep the global rom anyway...

I have the same problem with Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite (MIUI Global 12.0.10) and the standard carplay on a Hiunday Kona.
Have you found a solution?
Thanks

I got those 2 a week ago, they works perfectly for me to.
Maybe this can works out for you folks with problems...

Thanks for the suggestion. But I can't change my carplay system for my car. Good to hear that this works for you though.

Hey guys,
Has your issue been solved? I'm facing an equally annoying issue with my Mi 10 (umi) on the latest weekly (21.11.3). Everytime I ask Android Auto a voice request, I'm replied "not sure how to help with that" by Android Auto's voice assistant. Yet, in the same car, my Redmi Note 8 Pro with Global Stock firmware has ZERO issues with Android Auto...

If anyone has a fix, I'd be super grateful. Otherwise, does anyone know if the 12.5 stable ROM works properly with Android Auto and voice commands? Thanks!
