Hello everyone.
I have a problem with my Mi 9T Pro.
Whenever I connect it to any 4 computers I have access to, I get this pop up message: The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it - Device manager shows Unknown usb device (Device descriptor request failed), on properties it gives me code 43.

I haven't been able to connect my mi9 on pc for a year or two, I never noticed this error on device manager, only noticed it last sunday.

I tried to connect it on 4 different computers. I do hear the sound of a usb device connected but it never works as it should work. I get the windows popup notification on all 4 computers.

1 laptop windows 7
1 laptop windows 10 32x
2 desktop windows 10 64x

MIUI version is 12.5.2 Stable, 12.5.2.0(RFKMIXM) never rooted or had any other modification.
Windows 10 64x

Steps I already tried on my main desktop with win 10 64x.

- Did factory reset
- Wiped data using volume up+power
- Tried different ports, different cables, even bought a new one from Baseus but no solution.
- windows troubleshooting using msdt.exe -id devicediagnostic
- sfcscan found nothing wrong
- Updated motherboard and other drivers
- Uninstalled USB drivers and let it reinstall again when restarting computer. Device descriptor request failed message shows again on USB
- Installed drivers from Toll all in one.
- Installed wpdmtp.inf
- Updated USB drivers, tried different ones, generic, windows, qualcomm, none seems change the problem.
- USB debug on dev mode is on, tried to turn it off also, didn't work.
It never recognized as MTP or a disk., also never got MTP notification on phone, notifications on apps > notification were already on.
- Changed default usb config several times on dev mode, I only get the usb connected sound on windows whenever I change it, but device manager still shows device descriptor request failed.
- Installed drivers from qualcomm, windows.
- Mi Unlock and mi flash doesnt recognize my phone, nothing works when I start my phone on fastboot, besides device manager telling me device descriptor request failed.
- Tried Tool All in One.
Mi 9T Pro doesn't appear on it, tried with MI 6 and it shows up in a second.
- adb can't find my mi9t pro, works fines on mi6
- Changed usb power settings
- Tried something on regedit enable enhanced something on the device, found it somewhere on the web
- Tried on linux, Mi9 didn't even show up there, Mi6 worked fine.
- Installed mobile adb update on windows update.

Also Mi6 shows as Android Bootloader Interface on device manager. Mi9 shows up on USB controllers with the message

So far none of these steps worked, my phone is still not able to connect to pc via USB, My phone works normal, I can connect it via ftp, use it without a problem, it just can't connect to any computer I've tried via USB. I want it to connect via USB because I want to try to recover some audio files I forgot to backup.

Since it doesn't work on different computers, I thought it could it be a malfunction on the usb c port. Is it possible? Are they any other steps I could try?

Did you install the USB-Drivers and could it be that you disabled the USB Notification ?
  • USB-Drivers can be downladed here and if you need the ADB / Fastboot Tools download it here
  • If you have installed the drivers already, switch on the USB-Notification
    • Settings -> Apps -> Manage apps -> Android System -> Notifications (scroll down) -> USB connection
    • * Toggle on "Show notifications"
As a workaround install the tool "Wifi ADB"

Hello, thanks for your reply.

I did install drivers from that website before, I think I found your post or similar one on an other thread with that website, but ADB says Error Device not found. USB Debugging is set to on, and whenever I change it, I get that windows popup saying windows found an error on my device and on device manager it shows Code 43.

ADB Fastboot doesn't show my device, list of devices connected is blank.

Notifications on Android System are on but MTP notifications doesn't appear. Tried turning it on and off, nothing worked.

My phone isn't rooted, Wifi ADB requires it to be rooted.

there are so many root causes for this error. I think you have tested a lot of workarounds.

I am wondering that no computer connects it

did you try to disable all usb devices under usb controller, restart computer and then enable them?

right mouse, update driver….

i did before and tried it again, same error.

i was waiting for a new usb board to arrive, removed the original one and installed this new one on my phone. same error. thought it could be malfunction on the usb c plug but i guess it's not.

i'm thinking about giving up and leaving it the way it is, already spent 4 days trying everything i could find to fix it but nothing seems to work.

i don't think the problem is on my computer to be honest, my old mi6 works perfectly fine when i connect it on my pc, same with on my laptop, it even shows as android adb device on device manager, only my mi9t doesn't work on any other pc.
i spent 4 full days trying to fix it, got tired, gave up. i already installed all my stuff on my phone again. i will be more careful next time and do weekly file transfer to my pc via wifi.

thanks for your help. have a good day.

Stesso problema col mio Mi 9T Pro MIUI 12.5.1.0(RFKEUXM).

Quindi mi chiedo perchè il mi 9t pro invece no.

agora me mi 9T pro esta so no modo fastboot e nao entra mais no modo recovery
