Imo, you'll be safe by just flashing a full wipe fastboot rom over here before proceeding to flash any rom you wish. Key thing here is a full wipe.

So just to confirm. I'll flash the A12 twrp directly even though I'm on A11 miui 12.5? Or do I have to flash a fastboot A13 miui13 and only then do I flash A12 TWRP?

Miui13 is buggy as hell. Stay away from Miui13 unless you're ok with severely degraded camera quality. I lurk around chinese forums and it's such a shitfest over there. As for my experience, Roughly 11 months in, my Mi11 Ultra got its mobo fried. Now I'm waiting for the 7 days for the BL...

That's correct. Meanwhile I do suggest you get a phone cooler. Those peltier coolers when you are gaming. Basic ones are getting rather cheap and they should suffice for now

Yes but not entirely true. Whilst all SD888 phones run hot, mi 11 series run hotter than the competition. There's anecdotal and empirical evidence provided by the chinese MI community that different minor versions of miui 12.5 results in different thermal performance during different tasks.

Nope. Doesn't work. Dual apps will only work with miui's default launcher. This issue has been around for ages.
