Maybe a warning would have been nice, that there is a new TWRP version, twrp-3.7.1_12-v9.0_A15-zeus-skkk.img, published for the Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro and HyperOS 2.0 which needs to be istalled first before installing the update as a *.zip file via TWRP.

Clean install of HyperOS 2.0 worked as well. I don't know what was going on after I did the upgrade.
