I really don't think this is the issuse as can recreate the problem. My house gets very poor signal and if I send a text when I have no signal this is when the problem occurs, even if for the rest of the day I have full signal the message and any other message I send after that is just stuck...

I wouldn't say clearly, more like maybe. I had very similar symptoms with mine and feared the worst however, mine turned out to be a faulty cable. Either a new cable or maybe try a friends before trying anything else.

I have just came across your thread and managed to fix the problem as a result so thanks. It wasn't the cable however as I tried a few different ones but I cleaned out the micro USB port on the phone with a pin (not sure this is recommended) and all is well now.

I have had this screen at least 6 months, problem with proximity sensor only started since I took my phone apart. Not sure how the screen would affect the proximity sensor as it is not connected to the screen.

Maybe, unfortunately I didn't know where to buy a genuine one from and to I thought the one I was buying was genuine, believe me it wasn't cheap. Anyway, at least it got rid of the ghost touches I was suffering.

Right, okay but before I go ahead and glue it seems to have a problem with the proximity sensor. I have had a look at it and I can't see anything obstructing it but the pocket lock comes on when I try to open the phone and screen is blank when I make calls. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Hahaha, I cannot believe this statement. The fact that xiaomi has neglected my mi2s is exactly the reason that they won't be selling a new phone to this old user.

I have to agree with this. Not sure I have ever seen a flagship device receive an out of date update. I will be keeping my mi2s for as long as I can but my next phone will defiantly not be xiaomi.
