i think this assistant is selective in giving a voice response. just like the question of "what is the time now" it doesn't give a voice answer. but if i ask "do you know siri" the assistant comes up with a voice response. i do not know if this is natural or a bug in the os.

A little bit misleading. All ROMs 7.x.x are released weekly, hence considered beta. The latest stable ROMs are found here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xiaomi-eu-multilang-miui-roms/files/xiaomi.eu/MIUI-STABLE-RELEASES/MIUIv8.5/ and these are not 7.x.x.

remains to be seen; there might be slight differences in hardware here and there which are not visible from the published specifications. still there could be bright guys who can surmount the apparent difficulties and come up with android one software based on that of mi a1.

I believe EU roms are designed to pass CTS profile compliance. You can install safetynet test app from play store and check if what you have does pass. The EU ROM in my Max 2 passed with flying colors.

If you stay within the xiaomi.eu system it is stated that the unlocked bootloader will not be relocked after the flashing of any ROM. Anything can happen if you move out.

Have you tried doing a reset to factory conditions?
