    Once again, this is how Miui works. Take it or leave it! You are free to choose any other ROM. On the other hand, why don't you simply install an TWRP witch can handle encryption and type in your f***ing lockscreen pin?

    No. Never wipe system! No need to wipe anything after format data. Everything is already deleted. Format, reboot into TWRP, copy and install the ROM. That's it!

    Both methods are deleting your data partition. But only format will also delete the encryption of the data partition. A clean installation always deletes your internal storage. And for a clean install formating data is always nessesary!

    The weekly or beta ROM is quite stable with more features as the stable ROM. I never used stable ROM after unlocking my Mix 3 and i never had any problems. So you can update to weekly Miui 12 without problems. The weekly runs very smooth.
