Really strange, I can only suggest installing it from TWRP recovery. If doesn't work redownload the update file. I have TWRP 3.2.3. just for info.

I always download the file manually and then use updater to upgrade the system. Always work for me. I have mi 8 SE too but didn't try OTA update.

Why do you need authorization account if your phone can't boot at all. You have to explain exactly what the problem is. You can open the phone and trigger test points to get into EDL mode. Eventually you can buy special USB EDL cable.

I can confirm that one guy reported to me today that the authorization trough s- unlock site worked for him.

If you can boot to recovery than you can resolve your problem by flashing latest Chinese recovery rom. It has to be newer than that currently installed. Use mi flash pro tool or PC suit 3 Chinese version. If you can put the phone in fastboot mode try unlock bootloader by using mi unlock tool...

I don't really know what is going on, looks like Xiaomi makes it very hard now. If I where you I would try Mi flash tool but portable one. As far as I understand there are two kinds of problems. Soft brick due to ABR/ or hard brick due to relocked bootloader.

If the bootloader is relocked and you can not put the phone into recovery mode than only solution is ask for authorized account or buy it for 26$ on s-unlock website.

Could you be a bit more specific about the problem? I have updated my Mi 8 SE and everything seems to be fine. Rebooting very fast.

As I can see the global ROM will be released in a few days. Maybe sellers got it even before the official announcement. Let's see once you get the phone. The phone be officially announced in Hong Kong tomorrow and a day later in Taiwan.
